Limit Stimulation
Increased screen times, excess sensory stimuli, loud noises, bright colors, and social media addiction have disrupted our lives and the rapidity with which they’ve inserted themselves into nearly all facets of our lives has affected us personally: our behaviors, our social relationships, and our mental health.

Seek Quality Information
People everywhere seem to be experiencing an epidemic of overwhelming at consuming information. Too much information processing, with way too much of distractions, is sucking our energy, lowering our “vibe”, and ultimately depressing our beautiful self, leading to improper function of our bodily systems, our mental and emotional states, and beyond.

Reduce Stressors
Other external factors exhausting the brain include the mindless usage of coffee, alcohol, and other drugs for stimulus. We are also weighed down by overthinking, worry, and anxiety, which leads to depletion.

Keep Vata Balanced and Kapha Nourished in the Mind
To understand how to support the brain with food, it’s important to realize that the brain is primarily a Vata organ, as it is the source of the nerve impulses that are fired in our body. When our brains are healthy and balanced, they will function with the qualities of Vata: sharp, light, mobile, rough, clear, subtle, and flowing.

That said, the cerebrospinal fluid is of Kapha nature and serves to support the Vata function of the brain and nerves. Without adequate Kapha in the brain, Vata won’t work properly.

Therefore, nourishing the Kapha in your brain is key to having an efficient brain!

To keep Vata balanced and Kapha nourished in the mind, try to engage in nurturing practices, like spending time in nature and meditating. Get moderate amounts of physical activities to oxygenate the brain and invest in supportive relationships.

Consume Healthy Fats

Consuming good fats help in increasing Kapha in the brain. Good fats create moisture and lubrication. Consuming foods and supplements rich in Omega-3, are essential for learning and memory. Omega3 slows down age-related mental decline. The best sources are flaxseeds, fish, organic pasture-raised eggs, avocados, and nuts for their high oleic acid content, as well as green tea, berries, and dark chocolate for their antioxidant properties.

Turmeric
Curcumin found in turmeric is helpful in improving brain health. It stimulates mood, sharpens memory, and has been shown to improve cognitive function. The best source for Turmeric Curcumin is Lakadong Turmeric.

Cashews
The magnesium in the cashew nuts keeps the nerves relaxed by preventing calcium from rushing into nerve cells and activating them. Relaxed nerves result in relaxed muscles and blood vessels. The healthy dose of vitamin E delivered by cashew nuts makes them good for the health of the brain and reduces cognitive decline with the age.
