The Seven Dimensions of Wellness

Wellness is a broad concept. Wellness means being healthy in many dimensions of our lives. That includes the spiritual, emotional, physical, career, intellectual, financial, social, and environmental. These dimensions are interconnected, one dimension building on another.

Each dimension contributes to our own sense of wellness or quality of life, and each affects and overlaps the others. At times, one may be more prominent than others, but neglect of any one dimension for any length of time has adverse effects on overall health.

Health and wellness are good for one another. A healthy body has a healthy soul and mind.

We also recognize that we live in a multicultural world, and wellness encompasses areas that may not be of limited scope. We believe, for example, that trauma is a universal human experience, and that our culture and spiritual beliefs impact our perceptions and everything we do. In summary, wellness is about how we live our lives and the joy and fulfillment, and health we experience.

Wellness is a full integration and the pursuit of continued growth and balance in these 7 dimensions of wellness.
